Temporal Artery Biopsy
Temporal artery biopsy
A temporal artery biopsy removes a small piece of the artery at the side of the forehead (the temple). The sample is checked under a microscope for inflammation, which helps your doctors diagnose giant cell arteritis (temporal arteritis).
It is a short outpatient procedure done through a small incision, usually with local numbing medicine.
